Facts

Water is the most precious resource known to man. It is a basic necessity. Without water, our lives would be dramatically different. Many of the things we take for granted such as washing machines, plumbing, and dish washers would not be possible. Without clean, bacteria-free water, we would spend many hours searching for potable water and would contend with much sickness and disease from tainted water supplies. We are blessed with clean water and enjoy many luxuries because of it. Yet, in many parts of the world, such as Zambia, people struggle each day to find clean drinking water just to survive. Can you imagine that?

Consider these points:

• 1.1 billion people do not have access to clean water
• 70 million people are estimated to die of preventable water-related diseases by year 2020
• 43% of children drink from unsafe water sources in Sub-Saharan Africa
• 4,000 children worldwide die every day because they lack clean water

Zambian Statistics:

• 37 years 2 months is average life expectancy
• $ 450.00 is average yearly income
